Hi All Thanks Annie for this and for the tournament thread. Hope we'll all have fun contriuting. Not sure what everyone had in mind for this thread - I guess the title says it all really - anything and everything. I take it stuff doesn't HAVE to be Marat related either - but as we're all a little obsessed with him ......... ???Anyway. How's this for a starter? We all love Marat and we all love fiction - undisputed fact on this board I think. So..... If you were casting Marat as the hero of a new film of a great literary work, who would he be? For me, when I read Anna Karenina - my Vronsky looks like Marat. Over to you ladies. More ideas please!!!

I know sounds silly - But I'm besotted with the character of Mr.Darcy in Pride and Prejudice.!!
And I believe Marat can play the part perfectly...
A Proud man with utter disregard for what people thing about him..He is good lukin and yes truck loads of money...

Thanks for the new threads Oh Mr Darcy would be perfect, such a great character, not an easy one but with so many hidden aspects...makes him more interesting than others! Still fighting with Anna Karenina (the book lol)..so don't know, should give it another try to look for Vronsky..

Ooohhh, I don't know if you guys have read the Bronze Horseman series by Paullina Simons but I think he would be perfect as Alexander. He's an American who moves with his family to the Soviet Union as a boy. He becomes an orphan through a series of events and enlists in the Red Army so he can try and go back to America. At the start of WWII, he meets Tatiana and a romance begins.
If you come across these books, read them! I promise they won't disappoint. But I think Marat would play this character so well - tall, extremely good looking, strong, temperamental, romantic and passionate. I was definitely picturing his face when I was reading the story.

oh my I was totally picturing him as a Vronsky too!!!!
oooh what about as Ralph of Bricassart in the Thorn Birds?!
or just one of the many male characters of some of Babara Cartland's romances...I like men with good manners and loads of mistresses... loool!!!!!
wouldn't mind having him either in some sort of James Bond kind of book...yummi!!!!!!!

I'm not a big classics fan.......Or romance novels for that matter (can you tell? LOL) I like the spy, thriller ones so............Tom Clancy, Robert Harris those kind of things.
Can't really picture him in it. Except if it's about a Hot Russian Spy. LOL
But you know, I read this somewhere "I'm the princess in my own fairytale" so I guess Marat's the prince charming in it.............................................among a few others. LOL

Oh by the way, I modified the "My Library" board to "Our Library" since it's not just mine anymore.

We're so touched. Feels like we're a team! I like it.
As to the fiction - I only started with classics to make me sound intelligent LOL! Nothing wrong with thrillers and page turners - I love em too.
Could totally see him as something like Jason Bourne - if only I could get Matt Damon out of my head first. He's so perfect in that role - even if he is a little older than Marat. Also - I think I'd find the ruthless killing bits hard to reconcile with my image of Mr Safin.
